My story & resources

My own Journey to Health

Jeremiah 6:16 NIV

"This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look;

ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls."

Many have asked me how I walked through a year of restoring health in 2024, after a cancer tumor diagnosis.

Here you will find Resources that gave me insight and options that I was seeking.  Ultimately, I wanted to learn if there was a way that I could that choose to build up my body and strengthen my immune system, rather than weaken it.  After many prayers, reading and searching, I discovered an integrative approach, a personalized protocol that I chose for myself.  I'm so grateful for all I have learned and for the wonderful doctors out there who share their knowledge and expertise in the area of integrative health care.  Thankful!

My health story

Following my unexpected (early stage III) cancer diagnosis in December 2023, I've journeyed through much reading, prayer, research and received various therapy treatments over a period of 8 months.  Both conventional (initially) and then with Integrative, functional doctors during the second phase of my treatments.  Opting for integrative care versus chemotherapy. It was so very important for me to surround myself with like-minded people and friends who came alongside me with prayer and support.

Two weeks before Christmas 2023, after learning that I had a 4.6cm tumor, I found myself immediately ushered into a series of doctor and surgeon appointments.  I was given the option of possible surgery, but the outcome that was predicted did not make this a favorable choice for me.

The other option presented to me by my oncologist was a 50/50 chance of recovery, by undergoing 6-weeks of radiation treatments

followed by 4-months of chemotherapy.

I’ve been asked by many, to share what I personally chose to do, when I moved forward with a more, integrative personalized approach,

treating the whole person during phase II.  (I've shared my specific, personalized treatments below)

I elected to begin the radiation treatments and completed the 6-week protocol.  But I chose not to do the chemotherapy and instead, I spent hours and days researching what my alternatives may be; what options may be available for me.  In summary, after much prayer and researching, I did choose an Integrative approach of restoration for my body, as it offered many benefits for the whole person: my physical and emotional health and well-being.  I received a personalized protocol that corrected my personal health deficiencies and optimized nutrient levels to stimulate my immune function to work more efficiently.  The treating of the whole person became vital for me to address.

I'm so grateful for the options I discovered on my recovery journey,

and I found this integrative approach to be valuable and effective for my own body.

I first worked with my wonderful Naturopath and her Team.  Then I included treatments with my knowledgeable and kind Functional MD and continued to obtain lab work and scans with my Oncologist.  I believed there was a way to combine it all and strengthen my immune system to function better.

My faith in God is my strength and courage, and I embraced Hope as my anchor throughout my journey, as I spent many quiet moments in prayer and daily read the Psalms and held onto a positive mindset.  My family and close friendships were pivotal as they carried me in daily prayers; a few dear souls would call me daily to pray over me and give me much encouragement.  Thank you!

In September 2024, after completing my integrative treatments, it was time to proceed with my follow-up scans and colonoscopy

These tests revealed that my tumor was gone!   Only scar tissue remained!

Oh, the joy and thankfulness I carry within my heart in receiving this amazing news is overwhelming to express!  Though I very much hope you will see it revealed within my writings and prayers.  I thank my God for His grace, goodness and healing over my body.  I thank my doctors and their wonderful team members who worked with me and gave of their knowledge and guidance along this journey.  I am forever grateful.

May you too, be renewed in mind, spirit, body and find peace in your own decisions of personal health and wellbeing.
Hope-filled,

Michele

Dr. Colleen Coetzee (Hematologist/Virologist/Nutritionist) living in South Africa.   How amazing it has been to connect with this woman of faith, strength and integrity.  Dr. Colleen, you were my first line of support as I was researching integrative options.   The excellent medical studies you shared with me were so reinforcing to my heart and mind, as I was deciding the best path for my complete treatment.  Your weekly (and often daily) ongoing encouragement and Words of Truth shared brought me peace of mind during my “bumpy road” moments.  You were my angel with skin on throughout this past year. Your heart is huge, and I am grateful for knowing you dear friend.
